01 – THE STORY

Born in Denmark, Built on a Revolution

Lindberg was founded in 1983 in Aarhus, Denmark, by optician Henrik Lindberg and architect Hans Henrik Wo. From the very beginning, this was a collaboration that defied convention — pairing clinical precision with architectural thinking to create eyewear that had never existed before.

The brand’s breakthrough came with the introduction of rimless titanium frames, stripped of all unnecessary hardware. No screws. No hinges held together by rivets. Just the purest expression of what a pair of glasses needs to be. In a market dominated by heavy acetate frames and metal constructions laden with detail, Lindberg’s restraint was radical.

“The best design is the one you don’t notice — until it’s gone.”

Over four decades, Lindberg has remained proudly independent and family-owned, producing every frame at its headquarters in Aarhus. Each pair is handcrafted to order, often involving more than 200 individual production steps. This is not mass manufacturing. This is eyewear as craft.

The brand has earned recognition far beyond the optical world — winning multiple iF Design Awards and Red Dot Awards, and placing their frames in collections at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. When a pair of glasses belongs in an art museum, you know something extraordinary has been achieved.

02 – THE COLLECTIONS

Frame Styles: A World Beyond the Ordinary

Lindberg’s collections are grouped by material and construction philosophy. Understanding these collections helps make sense of why there is a Lindberg for nearly every face and lifestyle.

Air Titanium Rim  Iconic The collection that put Lindberg on the map. Screwless, hingeless titanium frames of extraordinary lightness. The Air Titanium Rim is the purest expression of the brand’s philosophy — minimal structure, maximum presence.
Strip Titanium  Rimless The ultimate in understated eyewear. Lenses suspended by a delicate titanium strip, creating the illusion of glasses that are barely there. Particularly popular with those who want correction without any distraction from their face.
Acetate  Bold & Colourful Lindberg’s handcrafted acetate frames bring the same design intelligence to a more expressive medium. Rich colours, interesting shapes, and precision-cut edges — for those who want the Lindberg standard with a bolder aesthetic statement.
Buffalo Horn  Luxury Among the most exclusive offerings in eyewear. Each pair crafted from naturally patterned buffalo horn — no two pairs alike. Warm to the touch, lightweight, and entirely unique. The choice of the true connoisseur.
NOW  Accessible Lindberg’s more accessible line, retaining the core design DNA — lightweight titanium, thoughtful construction — at a friendlier entry point. The perfect introduction to the brand for first-time Lindberg wearers.
Kids  Children’s Range Lindberg does not compromise when it comes to children’s eyewear. Flexible, durable, and beautifully designed — frames built to withstand active young lives while still looking polished and grown-up.

What unites every collection is Lindberg’s commitment to pure titanium — a material that is hypoallergenic, corrosion-resistant, and extraordinarily strong for its weight. If you have ever experienced skin reactions to cheaper metal frames, a Lindberg will feel like a revelation.

03 – THE WEARER

Who Wears Lindberg Best?

The honest answer is that Lindberg suits anyone who values quality, longevity, and a certain quiet confidence. But there are particular types of wearer who genuinely benefit most from what Lindberg offers.

  • The professional who wears glasses all day — If you’re in your glasses from 7am to 11pm, weight becomes a real issue. Lindberg’s sub-2g frames eliminate pressure points and nose fatigue entirely.
  • Anyone with a skin sensitivity — Pure titanium and buffalo horn are both biocompatible materials. Nickel allergies and metal sensitivities are completely avoided.
  • Those who prefer understated elegance — If you find most designer frames too loud, too logo-heavy, or too “fashion,” Lindberg’s restraint will feel like exactly what you’ve been searching for.
  • Wearers of strong prescriptions — Rimless and thin-rimmed designs minimise the visible thickness of high-powered lenses, keeping even strong prescriptions looking elegant and refined.
  • Those who want a frame for life — Lindberg’s custom-build model means frames can be adjusted, repaired, and updated over years. Many clients wear the same Lindberg frames for a decade or more.
  • Readers and varifocal wearers — The lightweight construction makes varifocal lenses noticeably more comfortable to wear all day — less mass means less fatigue when the eyes are constantly adjusting.

04 – AT VISIONCARE

Experiencing Lindberg at Visioncare Opticians

We are proud to carry a curated selection of Lindberg frames at our Baker Street practice. Our team understands that choosing a Lindberg is not like choosing most eyewear — it is a considered investment, and we treat it accordingly.

When you come in for a Lindberg consultation, we take time to understand not just your face shape and prescription, but your lifestyle, your aesthetic preferences, and how and where you wear your glasses. This matters because Lindberg’s bespoke build process means your frames are made to your exact specifications — nose pads, temple length, colour, and finish are all chosen at the point of order.

If you have never experienced Lindberg before, we genuinely encourage you to come in and simply try a pair on. There is a moment — usually within the first thirty seconds of wearing them — when most people quietly understand what all the fuss is about.

Our dispensing technician has a particular affinity for Lindberg — handling repairs, adjustments, glazing, and fittings with the kind of hands-on expertise that only comes from years of working closely with the brand. Whether you need a frame reglazed, adjusted, or simply want advice on which collection suits your prescription best, you’re in safe hands.

“In our experience, Lindberg tends to be a one-way door. The majority of our patients who try them simply don’t go back to anything else.”
